A couple of you may remember my girlfriend, Kat (AKA Mudwalker). She doesn't come on the forum much anymore, and doesn't hunt so much anymore either. Part of that is due to a heart problem that limits her to light physical exertion, which pretty much puts the kibosh on hog hunting in most places. Climbing hills is particularly tough for her.
Anyway, I was invited down to the Native Hunt ranch this weekend to help out with some video and PR work. I asked Kat to come on down and enjoy camp, just to get out of town for the weekend. We got there, and Michael (Native Hunt CEO) told me to see if I could whack a feral hog while I was there, to provide plenty of action for the videographer. Don't have to tell me twice.
The morning hunt on his Priest Valley ranch didn't pan out, and we came back to the main lodge at Jolon Rd. There are a bunch of feral hogs outside the big fence on this property (the europeans and exotics are inside the big fence), and he suggested that I roll out there and whack one of those since I didn't get one in the morning. This is a reasonably easy hunt, so I asked if I could let Kat take the shot instead of me. I figured it would be a great opportunity for her to hunt and take her first hog (actually her second, but she killed the first one while the guide was holding it down... not really the experience she was hoping for). Michael agreed, and I gave her my rifle and fired up the video camera (the professional videographer was following another hunter).
Long story short... we got on a nice little boar, and she made an awesome shot. Boom flop!
The video is in the works... I'll get it online ASAP. In the meantime, here's a pic.

By the way, I'm starting to really like these ETips. I'm shooting the 180gr 30-06, and they're just deadly! From what I've seen so far, they definitely do more internal damage than the Barnes (which I also like, by the way). For those of you who don't like Barnes, or at least don't like what you've heard, the ETip is a good alternative. Hopefully the new Hornady will be available soon, too, and it's very similar to the ETip.
