I haven't had much time to spend on the ranch lately between work and home commitments. I'm leaving tomorrow for a work trip to W. Virginia and had an itch to get to the ranch before I left and managed to sneak up for a few hours Wednesday night. After glassing wet sows and small boars for an hour or so, I decided to move and saw this guy feeding above the road. He had no clue I was there and had time to steady my .300 Winmag over my pack. As he fed from behind a tree, giving me a clear shot, Maggie barked and he immediately started cartwheeling towards the road. 50 yards from the road a tree stopped him. I walked to the tree, gave him a tug and let gravity take over. Finally, an easy hog.

My best weight guesstimation would be 200-225 lbs on the hoof.

Congrats, Scott! I guess your patience paid off!

Time to give the ground squirrels and coyotes hell 'til August, huh?

Scott,

Congratulations!

Makes me miss Tejon. Can't wait for the next JHO POR.

With the game cam pictures you've been showing, Tejon is indeed correct in calling it Pig Management Hunt. They have to control the overpopulation which would make the steep Tejon canyon's vulnerable to landslide with pig's uncontrolled rooting (I hope they can't see through my vested interest of more frequent -- and cheaper -- pig hunts).

Dang Scott. Way to get'er done. Most of the hogs I've seen over 200 lbs. have all been spotted, for the last few years that is.

Congrats on the spotted pig!! I just love that pattern, easy to see on the run in all weather and terrain.
