We were going to go fishing tomorrow but engine problems cancelled the trip; so let's go hunting!

Steve and I met and took our normal route, he dropped me off and stayed up high to spot for me while I hiked in. I had my 700 Remington BDL in .243, shooting an 80 gr. TTSX handload that chronographed at 3,600 fps. I really wanted to try it out on a good hog. I just got down the hill when I saw an animal coming out of the head of the canyon across from me and put the peepers on him--it's a good boar. Now understand; my freezer's full! If it had been way up a side canyon I would have passed. But it was right there; we could drive right to him. He's 165 yards away, so why not? So I waited until he was broadside and stopped, then let him have it. I saw dirt kick up behind him and off he went! I worked the bolt, led him about 5 pig lengths and shot him again, and down he went. The first shot was just about perfect and it was a complete pass-through. The second shot was right above the tail and was just a reminder to him to fall down now. Gotta love those Barnes bullets......

I'm guessing he'll gut out around 130 or so.

congratulations, does a light bullet require a longer lead?

Less lead, but obviously I could have added nearly another pig length. He was MOVING! I was really surprised that I got a pass-through from that light bullet. I still haven't recovered one.

How far did he make it from where you shot him the first time until he dropped?

Alan, this is getting a little redundant don't you think? I think it's time to step up your game sir. If it were anyone else i would say "black power only" or " a bow". But you have already done all that. Maybe you need to consider handgun or possibly a really powerful slingshot...LOL. nice piggy!

We got him in C3 by Northstar. We mostly stay out of Sudden 'cause it's a LOOOOONG way down there and usually it's pounded. C3 is 10 minutes from my hunting partner's house and it's 30 minutes for me.

Hey Kevin: I think I'll take the Sharps out again just for different. I haven't killed anything with it since the wall-hanger on my Avatar.

Congrats! Where in C-3 is northstar exactly? I was out there last weekend and we settled to the south east of the corral/windmill by a trough. Lots of trails and sign but no luck.

Northstar is the training camp...the place with all the little barracks. I've seen one or two down in that area, but mostly down by the corral. Northstar's hit and miss because there's a major access road through there and there can be some traffic.
