Spent Friday through Sunday hunting one of the WU properties. Was able to loacte pigs everyday. Located a very large boar Friday night but ran out of light before I could get on him. We located him again at Sunrise on Saturday morning but we lost him in the canyons . Worked another area and located pigs scattered all around in the manzanita. Nothing was presenting a shot so I went in and played dog while dad took position above me where he could see pretty good. As I entered the brush had a 125lb sow approach me with 5 piglets. I let her cross below me about 15 yards and then I went deeper into the brush. Came face to face with a hog at 20 feet but didn't shot since I thought maybe it was another sow with piglets. It snorted and chomped its jaw at me and then went the other way. It crossed the hill in front of me at about 50 yards and I expected piglets to come out behind it but nothing and by the time I got my gun up it was back in the bushes. Went in a little deeper and sent a 100 lb boar straight up the hill to dad. He threw up his gun to take it but as he put the crosshairs on it he could seee me in the top of the scope, so he put his gun back down. The pig then swung wide of him but he missed the popporutnity as it skirted to far below him. I took a couple shots as it ran across the hill but got nothing for it. Sunday mornign went back to some nasty canyons and at first light caught pigs feeding up a ridge line. I did about a mile loop and got on top of them. Dad took the low route so they were pinned. After about a half hour of listening to them chomp on the manzanita berries one stuck his head out and I decided enough was enough. Put the crosshairs between the ears as she looked up towards me on the downhill shot and rolled her upside down. She did about 20 cart wheels on the way to the bottom of the canyon. The rest of the pigs went side hill instead of down and dad was not able to get a shoot off. Took dad and I about an hour up hill through the canyons to get the mile drag out complete to where we could pick her up with the truck.
