Do we just call and say 'no on SB1221?' What's it about? I'll research but it should be posted if your asking us to call.

Calling Dems in CA to care about gun rights is like expecting a leopard to grow strips. They are bought and paid for...Feinstein, Boxer, Pelosi and their ilk could not care less about our telephone calls.

You've got a point, Bruce.

Boxer and Feinstein won't even send me replies to my emails. :D

But, I like to think that there is at least some type of record of our calls.

Bad Babs and Frankenfeinstein used to reply to emails. The typical response was: "Thank you for your opinion. I'm afraid that this will be one of those instances where we will agree to disagree on this issue." Basically, F- the constituents; I'll do as I please.

Don't count the Democrats out. Several of them can be reasoned with, and some are either ardent supporters of hunting or hunters themselves.

Give them a chance, but call one way or the other.

Last time I asked for their stats showing where and when the abuse occurs. I asked how much game was caught and what percentage was caught with cruelty. No reference to the studies was or still is available. One person was even from urban LA saying it was out of control? Where in LA can you hunt with dogs unless they are Police Canines? The bill lacks facts in it's writing and shows little effort to support it's cause with anything other than emotions.

Lieu uses a Humane Society page for his justification of the ammendment. This page has no facts, stats, or references either. Show us, tell us, prove other than what you feel or think that this is needed. Too many here enjoy a moral and safe hound hunt. With out cause no law should be passed.

This ugly bill is still alive and kicking, even though we did better than anticipated:

We urgently need your help again - especially if you are in District 50 / Assemblyman Lara's district (Bell, Bellflower, Bell Gardens, Commerce, Cudahy, Downey, Lynwood, South Gate, Florence-Graham and Walnut Park.) Also ask your friends and family for help if they live in in district 50! Map: http://asmdc.org/members/a50/50th-district-map/50th-district-map

Lara holds the key vote now! The bill went through the senate and is now in the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife. The committee voted on it earlier this week and could not pass it: The vote was 4 Reps no, 6 Dems yes, 2 Dems - Gatto and Hernandez abstain and Ricardo Lara (District 50) out sick. They will vote on this again on Monday June 2nd and Lara has the key vote. The antis will push Lara to support this bill. He needs to hear from everyone in California - especially his constituents - so he understands that this really matters to urban folks and that we OPPOSE all anti hunting legislation.

Please fax and call Lara's office and kindly ask him to oppose this bill. Sample letter and contact information below!

Happy hunting!

Re: SB1221 OPPOSE

Dear Hon. Ricardo Lara:

If a special reconsideration hearing is held on SB1221, please vote no. The amendments, written by the supporters of SB1221, impose even more restrictions on the trail hound community. They do not constitute a compromise in any way. Please reject the stereotyping of hunters as criminals and dog abusers.

This matter is better left to the Fish and Game Commission, which was set up to take public input and biological input to make wildlife management decisions.

Sincerely,
