I will be spending a few days in Salinas for work next week and was think about heading to FHL for Fri - Sunday looking for piggies. Anyone else going to be around next week? Anyone been there lately? Probably pretty dry and hot but I have acouple of ideas if the right TA's are open.

I was there last weekend. We saw plenty of deer, but not one hog. The only area open last weekend was area 29 and archery only.

Good Luck!

FHL is touch and go until September.

XDhunter and I were there the other weekend. A friend told us his son is scheduled to go to FHL for training within these months. And when we were there, busloads of soldiers are either coming in or disembarking (they use airconditioned bus nowadays).

Bunch of weenies. In the olden days, you had the stifling humidity of a 2 hour hot August ride in NC stuffed like sardines in one of them damn buses and there was always some goof who wanted to chow down a C-rat and then puke all over the bus. Lovely, half the bus gagging trying not to decorate the rest of the bus while some clown, impervious to the smell, wants to have a sing-a-long.

Oh wait, that was the army pukes, us USAF zoomies took the air conditioned GSA sedan from the motel and just meet them at the range.

Just a reminder to folks deer hunting at FHL---it's lead free now...and I'm sure the wardens will be out in full force on opening day if the base is open for hunting.
