Hi All!,

I'm new here to the forum. I'm an avid hunter and am crazy about the outdoors just as you gents and gals. It has been a goal of mine for many years to take a pig, but hunting on public lands has proven to be frustrating. I have decided to break down and hire a guide and do things the right way and harvest a wild pig. My girlfriend is also interested in pig hunting, which makes me doubly excited! I have combed the internet and have looked at several guide services. After much consideration it seems that Schmidt guide service out of King city (Monterey county) offers a nice service. Their company web address is: nschmidtguiding.com I was mainly wondering if anyone has had any experiece with this outfitter (good or bad) and if not what guide service you would suggest. I appreciate all of your advice and tips.

Best,

JaegerMeister

I had positive experiences with both the Jack Ranch and Shasta Outfitters. Bryson Hesperia Resort has had many positive reviews here on this site also.Search through past posts and you'll find many recomendations.

Good luck, sidepass

Their is a hunt at Tejon in May for JHO members.....It's probably the best deal for an unguided hunt with lots of help from other hunters. You must do it yourself in stead of the guide doing all the work of locating game, ect.

Tom Willoughby has been really successful for me. It has been quick hunts every time, but with hogs in the cooler.

You might want to check out Bryson Resort near King City and FHL.

http://www.brysonresort.com/

There has never been a negative comment about them on this forum and many guys seem to be repeat customers. They have cabins for you to sleep in too.

Dear Gentlemen,

Thank you for your input. This hesperia ranch looks 5 star all the way and I am indeed impressed with it. I'll certainly give it a strong consideration.

To all of you that recommend us here at Bryson, thank you so much for your continued support and praise. We appreciate it sooo much. Since we've gotten so busy, Tom Willoughby helps us guide here in the field at Bryson's 4000 acre hunt leases, then you are off to San Miguel 100,000 + acres on Tom's leases. It's a win/win. Plus you get to hunt squirrels and coyotes for free after you tag out, so you'll enjoy a full 2.5 days of hunting at a neat little 85 acre resort with cabins, target range and meat locker.
Sometimes, you just hunt here with us chick guides and that's not too shabby either...but usually there are the three of us (Deedy, Karin & Tom) here in the field with you at the Resort leases and Tom, Blake & Jim over at the San Miguel leases. If your hunting in the mornings at San Miguel, Tom or Blake will stop by here and you'll follow them to San Miguel.

All of our hunts are 100% guaranteed for shot opportunity at 75-125 yards on the hogs.

Deedy,

In regards to your guarantee, if a shot isn't presented are you allowed to return another weekend? Thanks

By the way, do you have any junior hunts?

Dear Daddy63,
We just wouldn't charge for the hunt if it ever happened. I honestly don't remember it ever happening- except with Speckmisser's brother who's only shot was in the brush. But that was the worst hunt I can recall. Sorry Speck... no charge, of course.
We've put our hunters on pigs numerous times during one hunt because they have missed their shots. We've had one hunter come back because we were trophy hunting, looking for that "special pig" and as a result passed on smaller 150 lb meat pigs...
But if you were to come here and not get put within 75-125 yards of a nice shot (no pigs running at a gazillion miles an hour 125+ yards away) you would not get charged for the hunt ... you, of course, could book another hunt, but if you do the math I'd go out of business. Plus, no-one would ever come back.
We do lots of Jr. & disabled hunts. Please e-mail me for specifics...Deedy@Brysonresort.com
Thank you for your interest!

We just got back from hunting with www.hogswild.com out of Coalinga. They consider this the off season but we wanted to hunt so they booked us. We only got one hog, but the guides treated us like family. They were all great guys and worked their butts off for us. We have already booked another hunt for later this year. From all the sign, it's clear that place is crawling with hogs...
