Just wandered if anybody has been at FHL in the last couple of weeks or will be there this weekend? I'm going to head over on Sunday and look for the piggies. probably end up shooting at some yotes as well. Looks like they have a lot of zones open ( 7,11,14,17,18,19,25,29,30 ). If anybody else will be there let me know and maybe we can have a cold one in the cantina!

Flyboy, All I can say is last night the central coast was hammered with rain! I would suggest calling the (800) number for an update before making the trip. I imagine there will be quite a few people being that it is a three day weekend and most other duck, etc. seasons are now closed. Good luck to you.

HI Hunt Hard, FHL is open almost every weekend to the public as long as there is not a big training exercise going on. You do need the FHL permit to hunt there though if you don't already have one. Not sure what you meen about a draw? Are you talking about the registration process?

Thanks for the heads up on the rain Buck Finder, I figured you guys were getting hit pretty good. We've been getting our share over here in the valley. I'm hoping that the rain and the Daytona 500 might keep some of the hunters home on Sunday. I haven't hunted FHL after a big rain like this, do the roads get pretty bad? They seem to be pretty sandy. I also have'nt heard anything about pig success over there lately, have you?

Hunt hard, the permit is $75 for a year or 25$ for a weekend if my memory is correct. If you go to the FHL website and follow the hunting info link you can verify it. The permit is also by mail only, you mail it in and then when you go over to hunt the first time they put a little sticker on your hunting license. Here's the link to the FHL website.

FHL is open only on weekends and Federal holidays. You need to send in an permit application thru the mail ($70-Annual & $25 Two-Day) which you can download from our website & as soon as we process it, we will give you a confirmation to let you know your permit sticker is ready.

It's been raining for the last few days and the roads are not that good but we're still getting a lot of hunters from all over and no one has gotten stuck yet. 4 hogs bagged last week (a 200lb in TA 25) and just today we got one out of TA 29 (175lb) Let me know if you have any questions about FHL :) I'll be glad to help. I've met so many of you from JHO and you've all been so nice.

PS- I got my hunting license now!

I have a question. After I get my annual permit and sticker. When I go after that weekend, can I just show up or do I need to mail anything in. Can I just show up for a weekend hunt?

Cda55,
After you receive the confirmation that your weekend($25) permit or annual($75???) permit has been received by FHL, then you just show up at the hunter/fisher registration window at the Wildlife office during the weekend/Holiday hunts. Tender shoots & lush green grass from all the rain must be really good for the survival of the piglets. Man!!!! I need to go to FHL & get at least some hiking & exercise or if I get really lucky a PIGGIE. God Bless. larrysogla.

Thanks for the reply Larry. I hunted FHL before the voucher went into affect. With my job, I never know when I'll be off for a weekend. I would buy the annual knowing I can just show up and get on.

Cda55,

I believe the weekend pass is good for the whatever weekend you choose to show up, as long as its for the current calendar year. So, if you don't think you are not going to hunt that much but plan at least one weekend. You can save some money and just get a weekend pass.
