Just kinda curious if any JHO'ers here have hunted with Tom Willoughby. I have hunted with a lot of guides in the King City and surrounding areas, but havent hunted with him yet. Would love to hear any experiences with him positive or negative. A few buddies and I are headin up on the last weekend of March. Thanx in advance guys....

Hey Bryan,

I have not hunted with him, but I can say I've read alot about him here on the forum. I recommend you do a search and you couldn't believe how many posts will come up. Good Luck on your hunt and make sure to fill us all in on your success/

I hunted with Tom several years ago. He's one of the top guides in California. If you look at my webshots, you'll see a 350# hog that I took with Tom. You will see hogs, and most likely get yours as well. Have fun, and take lots of pictures.

Tom hunts from Paso to King City. That guy knows hogs and he won't rest until you find them. You will see hogs and get shots. I've hunted with him maybe a half dozen times. Some hunts are slam dunks, other hunts not easy pickens at all. He's a good guy & his son Blake is part mountain goat.

Have a blast.

I hunted with Tom for an afternoon hunt and got my pig in about three hours. He is the pig giude down there. He is good because he is in the feild every day. He gets over 400 pigs a year or somthing like that. I think that you made a good choice he knows what he is doing when it comes to pigs. good luck

15 Years ago, I shot my first hog with Tom, and only 1 hour into the hunt. My father in law shot his hog 1 hour later, both Russian boars, both about 150 lbs, both late Friday afternoon (we'd gone up there for a weekend hunt and Tom asked if we wanted to go out Friday night for a look). We had a great weekend up there. Tom don't say a lot, but he's got my respect. If I ever hire a guide again for hogs, it will be Tom or Frank (of Mustang Guide Service, who I've also heard nothing but good words about).

BTW, I don't know if Tom still has the same routine, but I recall meeting him at a bar in San Miguel. We stayed at a great bed and breakfast place right there in San Miguel, it's a Morgan Horse ranch and it's owned by a couple called the Allens. I'm sure Tom could get you their number if that's your pleasure.

You're gunna have a good time with Tom, not to worry..........

Hey Free
It's funny you mentioned that bar, that's exactly were I met Tom when I went on my hunt. Man, our hunts sound simular, I killed my hog about 2 hours after we left the bar. Shot him in a barley field, the real cool thing, I got it all on video.

Here's the hog I shot.
