Anyone feel like this?

A couple of days ago I was out checking my trail cam and came upon 9 deer bedded down. I watched them untill they got up and began to feed. Then I noticed that a couple of them were very big bodied deer and with the help of binoculars I was able to see that they were bucks that have shed their antlers. I saw a couple of 130 inch bucks this season and also a buck that looked to be 170" plus, but unfortunately didn't harvest any of them. Now that I know the bucks have shed their antlers around here, it just drives me crazy that I can't find any sheds. I know there are some big sheds out there, but just can't find them. Just knowing that those big sheds are laying out there somewhere in the woods and I can't find them drives me nuts. But it is still fun just to be out in the woods again. Hopefully I can cure myself pretty soon by finding a shed or two. Russ

I know how you feel. Last year I had watched a 200+ non typ and a 170's typ the entire season. I knew right where they spent all they're time. I should of been able to see those sheds from 1/2 mile away. I found around 30 other sheds in that area but never those.

I never saw the deer this season. Good luck finding your's.

I Know exactly the feeling. To think that some stinkin' rodent is probably chewing on them right now too!

We call them "Tree Bears" around here!

They are antler eating machines. I shot this one with a 54 ca. flintlock.Look out when hunting them, they can be dangerous!

That must be whats eating up all the sheds in my neck of the woods. Finally a picture to proove they exist.

Bigfoot keeps their numbers in check in my areas.

BTW-I couldn't count the days that I've second guessed my shed hunting
abilities.You know they're there,but where?
I think they spend all winter,everyday,in areas I'm searching.Then they sense
antlers are ready to drop and head 3 miles down the road
just so I don't find their sheds.

Face it, if it was too easy we'd probably give it up.NOT

I have a dog trained to find sheds.. i will take $500. for him,he doesn't like small ones but will fetch them also.

Back in my first or second year of looking I actually spotted a small crotch horn shed on the slope in a beanfield....from about 150 yards away. Believe it or not as I walked to get that small shed I walked RIGHT PAST a side off a buck that was shot later that year and scored over 175" net typical and over 195" non-typical. I found that shed the NEXT spring after a tractor had run over it and broke it in pieces. I really searched that field and know for a fact I walked past it 12 or 15 times. I've never found anythiing close to that size since then. I'll bet some of you guys have done similar things.

RussellW, I know the feeling you're talking about. An old man who lives in one of my shed areas told me last january of seeing two bucks and two does standing in a small overgrown quarry right in my shed hunting area. They were about 15 yards from his car window. One buck had dropped both sides, the other had one side still on......WITH 8 POINTS ON IT! You think I could find any of the sheds off those bucks?? I pounded that area, every trail, every feeding and bedding area, and never found a drop in there last year. My theory is that as soon as they feel them loosen they walk out into a marsh or semi-frozen pond and drop em so we can't get em. Then again, it could be that there are some things we just don't know about adult whitetails and that includes some of the places they spend some of their time.......shed their antlers.....well you know what I mean.
