I've been talking to some local people, and will be getting more specific details and tips from someone experienced in the area I'm thinking of, but I'm looking for some people (have to be over 18) who might want to come out for some pig action on memorial day out east of Red Bluff. I've never hunted in that tract of BLM land, but as I said later this week im going to be talking and going over maps with a local who has hunted in it since he could walk, so I'm sure I can get some good info as to some good spots to go. It will all be spot and stalk and still hunting and I expect to be covering some ground until we find the pigs, or until we have to head back to the cars because shooting light is out. Anyways, here's just a few requirements I personally have...

- Good ethics
- Responsible
- Safe handler of your weapon, and a safe hunter overall
- As said before, over 18, or if you want to come and bring your kid thats ok as well :)
- Experienced as far as general outdoors guidelines go, aka there will probably be a snake or two.
- Having a 4 wheel drive vehicle is from what I hear a must, but I'll be able to know more by this friday.
- Willing to be there early, sunrise is about 6 or so here, and im planning on being out there before its light.

Thats pretty much it, and it really would be awesome if I can get another person to head out there with me. At the very least, It'll be an awesome day out in the field, and what better a way to spend memorial day then to be out in the woods that our veterans have fought so hard for!

Send me a PM or post here! Hope some of you might want to come along! :prayin :

EDIT: And this is Red Bluff in northern CA btw, got a pm wondering about that so figured I would clarify :)

Hi Toga -
Are you referring to the Paynes Creek Recreation Area and adjacent BLM land? If so, you will be VERY hard pressed to find a pig there. They are EXTREMELY few and far between (unless things have changed in the last year or two). You can occasionally find them on Spring Branch Rd. out past the rifle range (across the creek from Coleman Fish Hatchery), but most of that land is private. There are a number of pigs around Lake California (all private property), but you don't find them too often across the river.

Tehama Wildlife Area does not allow hunting for pigs unless you draw the G1 hunt AND draw the Wildlife Area AND have a pig tag.

I'd be game to chase some animals around, but I'll be in Hawaii then.

UPDATE: CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE UNTIL I CAN FIND ANOTHER PLACE OR SOMEONE WHO HAS SOME PRIVATE LAND THAT WILL LET THOSE OF US WHO WANTED TO GO HUNT ON IT. Thanks for everything, and hopefully everything will work out, eventually.

Thanks 84toyota, seems like I was misinformed about the area by the last DFG rep I talked to. Called today and asked for the supervisor and they were a bit frustrated that the last person didn't make it aware that you do need to get drawn. So it looks like now the hunt is going to be somewhere on a blm parcel west of Red Bluff, but hey if you or anyone else can suggest some land up here, then back to square one for now lol
