I would love it if I could be included in the trip. I'm not sure of my navy schedule too far in advance, but let me know what you all come up with. I have whatever weapons we decide to hunt with up there and I do have one spot that I've taken a couple of pigs. Maybe a JHO camping/Hunting trip. But I would recommend we wait until well after the deer hunt is over up there. I've been told its a mess.
Civilians can hunt Vandenberg, but only DoD, NAF, and AAFES employees who work at Vandenberg. The Chumash Tribal Members can also hunt, other than that you need the military I.D. (Active, Reserve, Dependant, Retired, or if you got out under VSI/SSB)
gonehnuting is correct as to who can hunt VB. The DFG there wanted to open it up to others a couple of years ago but the base commander shot them down.. I'd like to see them open it up to all DOD empolyees.. I'd be there in a heart beat..
Maybe a letter or email campaine will work to change things what do you guys think..
Big Daddy K please dont give any of our VAFB secrets away. I know we have taken quite a few hogs up there, and we certainly know where they are. Oh well I guess I am no longer in CA or active duty in the USMC. So let the secrets fly. Big Daddy K I miss our times together (hunting). CRazzy RABBIT hahahahahh
I am stationed in China Lake and would love to join someone on a pig hunt. I have hunted in Georgia for about 25 years and just started hunting here. Give me a hollar if you need a partner.
in an extraordinarily gracious offering, bigdaddyk has shared a couple of those secrets with me and in 3 weeks my pal and I are going to go check them out first-hand.
as a new hunter of every variety I'm unblooded and pigless and eagerly looking forward to this hunt. I'm still trying to get used to the idea of seeing wild pigs in the field, much less getting 'em in the sights.
and if you're not already there, consider getting into the reserves..... that will again get you the magic e-ticket to hunt VAFB.
huntallday, it is nice to have u up and running. I have been very busy here getting ready for the big move. I can't wait to get there in Dec and start scouting for newxt season. Give me a call so we can get a time to go in and chat in the chat room.
Greetings to all the Boarhunters!!
I just arrived in VA, stationed here with the Army, but my home is Cali. I will be over in Los Angeles, in mid Decemeber and want to take a trip to Vandanberg for a hog hunt. I miss hog hunting, here in VA there are no hogs except few by the border with West Virginia and North Carolina.
My FHL license has expired but my VAFB license is still good. I will be about 2 hours from VAFG in Los Angeles, and will drive to VAFB on my Honda Sadan with a big 100+ qt cooler in the back seat.
I have been at VAFB 3 times and right before I left to VA I shot a 40 pounder in area 2A, so if anyone is interested going out there in December for a hunt please let me know. I always end up going there alone since I don't have any active military friends that can hunt there. VAFB has strict rules about guests also, they have to be active or retired military or dependents, pretty much the same quailifications as the hunter, so for this reason I end up going alone. It will be nice to go there with a hunt-partner, makes the hunt more memorable and enjoyable.
-good luck everyone
