There was an article in the recent California Hog Hunter magazine that I read at a buddies house. They had an article about B&B out of Los Banos and it sounded good. I can not find any info here on Jesse's about them.

Have you hunted with them or do you know anyone that has? They are not far from my house and it wold be nice to have a close by spot for a guided rifle hunt.

Thanks,

George

Sounds like you get to be the guinea pig, Georg. Good luck!

If I can't get any input, I probably rather go with a known entity in the usual Hollister / King City area. What's your favorite rifle guide, Speck?

Thanks, George

Hey George,

I hunted with B&B for quail and pig this past fall with my father. It's a great piece of property and the accomadations at the ranch house were nice. The terrain is rugged and steep. We limited out on two days of quail hunting. As for hogs, I didn't take one that weekend. I did see three hogs that had just went past the fence line on the neigboring property. I tried to get up there the next morning but ended up with a flat tire on the drive up the mountain. Bill the owner of the property is a great guy. Make sure your in good shape cause the terrain will wear you out. During the weekend, we saw deer, bobcat, racoon, hogs, quail, cottontails, and ground squirrels. Bill will let you hunt the squirrels during the mid-day to pass the afternoon. The property also has chucker, which I could hear, but was too tired to go after. The area that the chucker are in is rougher than the quail terrrain. Anyway, hope this helps.

Many of the guides in Central California hog hunting have exclusive hog hunting privileges in multiple ranches so that they can keep a pulse on which particular ranch has the most recent sighting of hogs and that is where they bring the client at that particular day. That way the client always has a good shooting chance on hogs. If the guide has only ONE ranch that he can bring in the client, then if the hog numbers are not thick on that hunt day, then the client has only a small shooting chance on a hog. If the guide has many clients everyday shooting hogs on the same ranch for several weeks in a row, then the hogs are being pressured and hunted hard and the last hunter would have less chance of seeing many hogs. I would go with a guide that has exclusive hunting privileges on several ranches so that the hunter will have the most chance of seeing a good number of hogs because the guide can switch ranches if the hogs are being hunted and pressured too hard on one ranch. It is just the law of averages. The more hunting ranches available to the guide the better the chances for the hunter. .Nuff said.

Georg,

I'm not much help here, since I've only used one rifle guide for hogs, and that was a dog hunt. Once I discovered Tejon Ranch and Chopper's, I didn't need a guide anymore.

If I were to book a guided rifle hunt, I'd more than likely roll with one of the King City guides that have been discussed so many times.

Mustang Guide Services out of King City fits the description that larrysogla described. Had a great hunt with them in June.
