Now I need to save up and get myself a TC. It would be awsome if they let us use slugs.

You can apply for more than one hunt period as well. I had sent my postcard in already and the gal called me to let me know that AND put me in for additional periods.

DFG Bear,
I did the online application. I understand we cannot apply as party which means each application is only for one individual. Somehow the options for "number of applicants in party" only shows "all available" and "2". It didn't give the option to for "1". I selected the "all available" because this was not to be applied as a party of more than one hunter So I assumed the all available will be 1. Somehow my application still shows "2" as the number of party. Is that okay? or is there another way for us to change it to 1? Just want to be sure and not get disqualify.

Thanks,

L2h

Need to get me one of those!

:smiley_green_with_eI have two target gun purchases this year: a good shotgun that will shoot the 3.5 magnum shells, and a muzzleloader, so I can go after some of these specialty hunts, and get into some smoke!

L2h,

I am managing the East Park pig hunt drawing and am replying on Marc's behalf. Yes, when you are initially selecting the hunt specifics, that drop down box only gives you those two options. It does not matter which you select, both will lead you to all the hunt periods for East Park (this is a minor bug that I am aware of and will hopefully be resolved by the next hunt, but I understand that it is confusing). After you select your hunt periods, it will again show that the maximum hunt party size is 2 - please ignore this, and at the bottom of the screen where you are given the option to 'add additional hunters' you should select 'NO.' The way our drawing operates is slightly different than how other drawings for which the system was originally designed, and this is an issue that arises out of that. As long as you've selected NO, and did not enter another hunter's information, your application should still be valid.
I hope to have this issue resolved soon, thank you for bearing with us in the meantime.

Good luck!

We have the Bobcat Ranch pig hunt opportunity coming up soon - application period should open up first part of March. Keep an eye on the pig management webpage: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/wildlife/hunting/pig/specialhunts.html, where we will post the application period.

WOW! Did anybody else have this happen to them......I looked up my draw stats on the F&G website and it said I was successful in the draw for the East Park hunt for the third shoot date. And that I would be receiving a packet in two weeks or so about the orientation/hunt.Time goes bye and I take the scope off my muzzy, spend about $70 on more ammo/powder,etc...Go out to the range and shoot the gun with iron sights,to get ready for the hunt.My non-hunting buddy and I both put in to get the hunt days off work(since it was weekdays). And then nothin comes in the mail,so I get back on the website look up my app. status and now I am unsuccessfull in the drawing....I look up the lotto results for the shoot day(inwhich I was on there before Lic.# and all) and my info. is now gone!WTF..now getting a little upset!
So,I make a call today to a few people at F&G and get ahold of a person incharge of this part. hunt draw. She tells me they had a problem with the IT's guys putting up the alternates as hunters for the hunts. So,two out of the five hunters for each shoot day were alternates(strange you need two alts for three hunters?)I think they messed this one up! Anyways,I'm greatful they do these hunts for us,but a little upset they didn't contact me(and others)when they realized they had a mess-up in the drawing! She said there was noway to know who all saw what was posted, but I think the twelve hunters atleast should have been notified of the error and not just blown-off!
Also, maybe the hunters that got CUT on this hunt should have the tags for the summer hunt given to them for the mess-up,since they were pulled from the rest of the hunt dates, since they were drawn for the date they were an alternate on.....O.K. I'll shut the Rant switch off now! Sorry to bend everyones ear.....just wanted to see if anyone else on here had this problem too!

Gotta love technology and innovation, don't ya? I'm sorry if this happened to anyone else, but here's the skinny:

When we switched to the on-line drawing system, it automatically drew three successful applicants for each period and two alternates. The alternates are drawn just in case the selected hunters back out. Some folks on the forum here have actually been selected as alternates in previous hunts. The problem with this draw, is that the on-line system displayed the alternates' information along with the successful applicants. Only the successful applicants should have been listed, and they were the only ones to whom we mailed the entry permit and other pertinent hunt information.

We have since remedied the apparent 'glitch' in this system for subsequent hunts. I apologize for not putting this explanation on our webpage, and I'm also sorry if this caused any inconvenience for anyone.

On a brighter note, I met with some folks in Placer and Nevada Counties today and they are interested in opening up about 1700 acres to the public for hunting pigs in our SHARE Program. I also spoke with a guy yesterday who has roughly 5,000 acres out of Bakersfield who wants to do the same. I hope we can get these rolling and have them available by next summer...

The is good news about the new opportunities. Please keep us informed when they become available.

To bad about the new online system messing up, but I tell you what Marc it is way better and faster...and now that you don't need a stamp all the better.

If you do draw, you don't have to remove the scope from your M/L The "muzzleloader only " is not a F&G imposed restriction, but rather it's a county ordinance. The East Park Reservoir prohibits the use of Firearms or Archery equipment. The muzzleloader hunt is a loophole that F&G managed to wrangle out of them. I'm familiar with this because I drew an elk tag there in '06
