Went d7 last week, got some good leads, doing 3 day trip in d 7 this next week ......hopefully my kid will get a bear .....been having a ton of fun scouting so far

That sux ... I have a predator call but I don't know that it's the right time of year to use it because they're probably still feeding on berries and such. We didn't see any beer this last trip but I found a place that the apparently frequent quite a bit with tons of scratch marks bone piles and lots of bear poop so I'm planning to camp near that area on my next trip.

What elevations are they at this time of year, I'm in d7, been going 8k to 9k, wondering if I'm to high up.....
I’m in SoCal and at 2200 feet.

I guess it's very location specific, but central valley 2200 feet is like 100 degrees and dry......
It was 92 yesterday for me. So still hot but bears are still there.
They are definitely spread out. I havnt seen tracks around my house lately “4500 ft. I havnt seen any sign in my summer camping. Including East Sierra and a couple of the Sierra pass’s. Time to check mid elevation this weekend. I’m just going to keep going and try to get them and the deer dialed. I have Friday Eve and Saturday this week. With nice conditions predicted I enjoy trying to find them and then make a plan . Really be honest with yourself about the sign your seeing. If your seeing scat and tracks that are from today through a while back your in the right spot. If your seeing old sign only. You need to keep moving / glassing really looking at size and age of tracks and fresh scat , scratches /rubs./rocks turned over. Logs torn apart /where they are rolling in wet deep grass around muddy willow springs in hot country.. I’ve honestly never wanted to shoot a bear but I have spent so much time watching them , bumping in to them analyzing sign. We live around the beasts haha. Look for crows circling! When they tear up logs the birds gets noisy and circle . If your sitting on a forested canyon you can hear them ripping logs or rolling rocks. They leave a ton of sign. Just not always the sign we think of. Sorry for the long one. Just kinda thinking aloud about what I’m looking for this weekend.
BTW I think we all need to take a bear if we can ! the deer and turkeys etc will thank us . The neighborhood should thank us. But they wont . good luck. Let’s put some down. I wanna see some bear pictures
