A good place to start is going on the various websites of western states equivalents to our fish and game. They will usually have a chart to show what zones are the hardest to draw and those zones have the highest success rates. Some odf the staes have customer service reps who might be helpfull.
Just pick up one of the many sponser endorsed magazines out there and you can see all the premium hunts and who bought them... They splash photos of the trophies and brag about the guide services names quite readily.
thanks for all the info guys it will come in handy when I apply out of state this season I tried to get a co over the counter tag last season but didn't have the money fr it so mayb this year.....on a side note what about ca archery elk? I'd like to do a rut hunt with my bow but not sure of what zones offer that I was thinking at worst I'd apply for fhl or for lone pine area anyway thanks again y'all big help....good luck stay safe and enjoy
In my opinion if you want to kill a giant bull with a bow in California I suggest the Northeastern hunt. The population is getting larger every year and there are record book bulls killed there every year. It is not an easy hunt however.
thank you jerryt and rvrkng and slant top I typically hunt alone for archery mayb some friends to help with the hunt but I'll scout hunt and pack all in and out on my own.............thanks again guys huge help
