Just wondering if we have anybody from Montana using the forum that might be willing to give me some hints on getting that elk this Nov. Deer are almost free for the taking, I want my first elk soooo bad.
The only time I hunted Montana we hunted west of Hamilton in the Bitteroot area just a few miles from the Idaho border. My partner got a 5x5 bull. I didn't see an elk. I saw Big Horn sheep, Moose and Mule deer but not one elk. People around us did well but I guess I was just unlucky. The last few days of the season we drove up to Seely Lake to check the White Tail hunting. We didn't get one but we both got 3x3 Mulies. That was about seven years ago. We have hunted Colorado and Wyoming every since.
This year we will be hunting Idaho in the Bitteroot area just West and a little South of where we hunted in Montana.
