Arizona 5B South

Hi All,

My partner and I have drawn Arizona's 5B South for archery elk.:gettin mail:
I have bought the Delorme 3D maps and have been pouring through the posts on Jesse's and other websites. I plan on a scouting trip later in the summer.

I would appreciate any information from those who have hunted the region can provide. I am not looking for your honey hole, but have general questions about the area. We are excited as hell at this opportunity and plan to hunt our legs off!

Game Management Unit 5B

Some of the best info for the area can be obtained from the game manager for the unit. If you can get him to call you back. I have not hunted elk in 5B South, but I have hunted or scouted in all of the units surrounding this unit and have seen some bulls traveling across the borders of this unit. The unit is not know for monster bulls but there are some decent ones in there.

There are a lot of elk in this unit I have seen when exploring or four wheeling in there. One of the places I see bulls in this unit is 4 miles north of Happy Jack Lodge, east side of Lake Mary Road. They cross back and forth from 6A. Also try the boundry between 5B north and south as a place to start along the power line. Anyway good luck.

Congrats on getting drawn. I have hunted 5B-S 3 years (2 archery & 1 muzzleloader). You will get plenty of shots. Are you in the Phoenix area? If so, we can have coffee and I can show you some great spots on maps. blackbeltllc at hotmail dot com (I got drawn for AZ unit 1 early rifle... do you know anyone who has hunted AZ unit 1 B4?)
