If I put in for a point only in Arizona, is it unit specific or good statewide??

When is the deadline to apply?

Thanks for your help.

Pts are state wide and you can use them to apply in any unit. Draw deadline is mid June. It's is not even open yet so you have some time. I usually apply for CA and AZ at the same time.

You won't find the numbers of elk here in AZ like you do in Colorado or other states. But if you're looking for a trophy, there's no better place in the world...

Since I'm going to Africa in 2006, I figured I'll start on points this year for Arizona and hope for the luck of the draw in '07. Thanks again for the info!

I've drawn two rifle bull tags in unit 7 with zero points, one archery antelope tag with zero points and one rifle antelope tag with one point. I know a guy that drew a desert sheep tag the very first time he applied. He did have one hunters ed point. Points probably help, they sure don't hurt, but you can draw anythime.

Unless things have changed, to buy a bonus point in Az you have to forfeit the price of the tag. To get around it you need to put in for a longshot rifle tag, hope you don't get drawn and get your refund. I heard a lot of guys didn't know this and lost the money. Coues can you clarify if they changed this? Ed F

Yeah, they changed that ridiculous rule. There is a fee for the point, $5 for residence, not sure about NR's. You still have to buy a hunting license though, which is a joke too.

I heard about some NR's that bought a Buffalo point not knowing they would not get a refund. $3,000 each!
