Does anyone know some good public land across the border in Arizona? I recently heard that 80% of the state was public, is that true? I am interested in Javelina/Hog or Predator hunting if possible.
thanks

USMARINE,

Check out the thread called "Arizona Javelina/Deer"

We are planning a hunt sometime in January on public land.

I just moved to Ca from there. How far into Az do you want to go?

I used to hunt deer/javelina during the Jan. archery hunt. I would cross the Salt River and go behind Saguaro Lake. I would also go down Apache Trail. There are spots from Canyon Lake to Roosevelt Lake depending on how far you wanted to drive. My favorite spot is probably between Apache Trail and the marina at Apache Lake. There are a lot of muleys there.

Yeah, most of the land is public there.

Good luck.

gregm, ya not to far, I live north of San Diego so I would like to keep the distance down some areas on the far west part of AZ would be good. I will get a map and check out the areas you mentioned. Are the javelina numbers pretty good on that end? Thanks

OK. Yeah, I wasn't sure how far you wanted to go. The areas I know about are just east of Phoenix. Yeah, there is plenty of javelina and deer to hunt in there.

There should be some good areas between Blythe and Yuma. I'm just not personally familiar with them.

Good luck and be sure to let us know how it turns out.

Later,

Greg.
