It's getting kinda expensive putting in for myself AND 2 kids, so this year we only put in for turkeys, no javelina. Both my kids have bagged their javelinas so now it's time for turkey. I put in for the Gould's and didn't draw, no surprise there. My daughter is no longer a junior so I put her in for unit 27, no luck there either. My boy is still a junior and he was lucky and drew a junior tag for unit 27, tag #35 out of 50.
What's really cool is that the juniors get to go a week before everyone else.
We've never been to 27 so it should be a real treat to see that area of Arizona.

Unit 27 is a beautiful unit. Goes from the high desert all the way up to 9000 foot elevation ponderosa pine forests. Hannigans Meadow is an awesome spot. It's also probably one of the most rugged units in the state. Not a whole lot of roads off the main highways. One other cool thing about 27...a couple of years ago I was whitetail hunting and ran into a pack of the re-introduced Mexican Grey Wolves. They just stood there and looked at me for a couple of minutes and then moved on. Be prepared to see and hear them. You may also come across the big acre pens where they put them just before they're released to get them acclimated to the forest.

You're going to have a great time. No turkey draw for me this year. But I got drawn for the Unit 1 bull elk late rifle hunt and my javelina hunt next spring...so no complaints coming from here.
