I found this small Dayflower in my backyard. A member of the Spiderwort family, the Asiatic Dayflower bloom is only about 1/2". The flower (Commilina communis) with it's two bigger blue petals and one small white petal gets it's genus name from the three brothers named Commelin. Two of the brothers were well know botanist, while the other had no accomplishments in botany. I suppose the small white petal refers to the brother with not accomplishments in botany.

Kewl Ironwood, I've never seen a spiderwart in that color blue. The ones on our farm in Missouri are almost purple.

So the 3rd brother was a slacker?
