Been on the trails since the crack of dawn crossbow hunting for pigs but no luck yet. Refuel and hit another spot. It's swirling warm & cool wind blowing now so that will give the pigs advantage on scent control, but its all good, stay tuned!....tra

I've got arthritis now in all my neck vertebrae and all my lumbar vertebrae (which can result in an uncontrollable lightning strike in my major muscle nerves) -- so I consider it too dangerous to draw and hold back a bow now.

So I been thinking about a crossbow for places and times they are permitted. What is the effective range of that crossbow you got there TRA?

Thanks for the current report! I wish I was there right now. I hunt the weekends. Hope you see them tonight.
With regards to wind direction, I try to keep it in my face, but don't worry about it very much. I've seen plenty of pigs with undesirable wind conditions. This last weekend I came close to a sounder that knew I was there, but didn't bolt until I was just too close. I missed my shot at running pigs.

I was out last Saturday by the Yorty creek lot and was surprised to see so many hunters this late in the season.....I guess words spreads when someone gets a pig in a certain spot! :hog chewing:

Just finished another good area and after about 1 1/2 of hunting and hiking I came out on this main trail and a small pickup drives up from behind me out of nowhere and I think its Wild Justice crew but no to my suprize it was Ranger Joel who use to be in charge of the pig hunt at l.s. about 3 yrs ago, I introduced myself and we had a great conversion for awhile and then I went back to hunting off the trail, just got back and gettin ready for sunset hunt with either crossbow agian or trad bow, no piggie action yet....tra

I finished the day with the crossbow because of the swirling winds..got a 3 hr. Drive home. Talk to ya later!....tra
