A friend from Australia sent me this picture of deer just outside his backdoor. He says they are full grown or at least he thinks so. What kind of deer are these?

Hey I saw a show yesterday. They were hunting deers that looked like that, but the bucks were huge and had huge antlers. The antlers were long and looked kinda like elks but smaller. It was interesting because i believe it was stavester stalones brother. Look shorta like him. The only thing was it looked like they were hunting in America. Did anyone see this show, it was Sunday around 4:00.

Either species is beautiful, I would love to go to NZ and shoot a Fallow and a Red Stag!!!! That would be a trip of a lifetime, and my wife could enjoy the touristy side of things, while I hunted!!!!

Sounds like a 20th Wedding gift!!!!

The Red Stag was brought to New Zealand by Englishman way back when. They are a very close relative to our Rocky Mountain Elk. They have a deep growl rather than the high shrill of our Elk. But, they are absolutely magnificient creatures and sport some great headgear. If you ever get a chance to hunt New Zealand do not pass up taking a crack at these fellas:

Fallow Deer (there are several color phases: white, chocolate and spotted. Various shades of each).

Axis Deer (Chital Deer from India. Some of the best venison on earth) They can be hunted world wide now thanks to conservation by ranchers mostly. Texas and Florida have plenty.

Red Deer (Stag). We hunt them in Texas here at home, but my Outfitter in NZ has them up to and surpassing 500 points. There are pure stag's and hybrid stags which are genetic crosses. Excellent table fare that I prefer to Elk. The herd we hunt from in Texas are pure Red Deer. GGS
