Just foud a new website that is actually a beta from Google that has some awesome aerial photos...most are fairly recent and have great resolution. Here is one of the Wildlife Check Station at Camp Roberts. have any of you used this yet? You can even get the GPS cordinates for any given spot!

Hanginghog, Is this a subscription service or free? Pictures look much closer and cleaner than several other outdated options. What is the link/address? Good luck hunting.

In case anyone was convinced, here is another with more detail. for those of you familiar with Camp Roberts, notice the white concrete divider walls at the entrance and the camo covered awning in the back of the check station!

Look up the requirements to run the software. You need windblows XP and a hot-rod video card.

Rules me out.

XP needed but no fancy videocard...i just have the OEM version. The advantage this has over Terraserver is that the pictures are extremely current. some over the pics on terraserver are over 10 years old!

Once you get away from major highways or away from large towns, no pics...

bubba,
This a problem with this software and others such as NASA/Whirlwind. For most civilized locations there is great coverage, but out in the bush where most of the places we all hunt are, it lacks the high resolution needed. USAPhotomaps is still the best for these type of images. It uses Terraserver's "older" photos(1994) and has higher resolution...
Still not bad for free...
