The AZ fall hunt draw is open and available for online applications. The deadline for submission of applications is Tuesday, June 8 at 7 p.m. (MST).

More info and online apps at

http://www.gf.state.az.us/eservices/draw.shtml

6A has been my choice for the last couple years. I've got 3 bonus points this year.

Where am I going??? Broke, Crazy, and in the Doghouse with all the places I have been putting in for. I really don't care to get drawn in AZ this year so I am adding my daughter to the app. to bring the points down and start building hers. So I will pick some zones with few tags.

I just put in for AZ hunts 3054, 3052 and 3154. All antlerless. Coues recommended 3052 and 3154. I hope I get one. If not I will at least collect the points.

To each his own, but I think UT and CO are the cow states. Cheaper tags, plus you can save your AZ points for what AZ is noted for, big bulls. AZ takes your points away if you draw anything, even a third through fifth choice.

BigHorn:

if you draw 3054 let me know, I have some places for you to try. It's a fairly easy tag to draw, but finding elk in the unit can be a challenge.

with the June 8th apps deadline near for 2004 hunts in Az."ALL"hunters applying,BEWARE of the NEW BONUS POINTS "only" system in place this Season.

Az is way off on "THEIR" new Bonus Points only "SCAM".A applicant, not wanting to draw in say 2004,would think the 2004 B.P. only would be the way to go,most states now offer this.Buy your 2004 lic and a small apps fee and a B.P. is had.ARIZONA,has YOU buy your licence,O.K.,but also "Pony Up" the complete price of the tag i.e.$371.00 for non-res elk tag,and KEEP IT.

Come on,!!! Is it just Me or anybody else, that feels this way.A few will fall for this "SCAM".This is a "RIP" to ALL hunters Res and Non-Res appling for "Points Only"in Az.Rory Aikens,"G&F" says,"Spotsmen asked to do it this way",Myself and several others who attend Commissionn meetings in Az had No "Imput" on this "Scam"Anyone else asked about this by Az. Commission ??? Of course this is from a F&G Commission, that will not "GUARANTTEE" a NonRes tag system, just their "No More Than 10%" that is just as unfare as this "NEW SCAM" of Bonus Points Only ---

Subfan is doing the old way of not wanting to draw in 2004.Add another hunter on your existing B.P. and just be charged the hunt lic and a apps fee.Way to go,

As long as you are not suckered into doing it, it is no different than last year. I bet a few will do it, even for sheep and bison. Imagine a nonresident seeing over $2000 in charges for bogus points! He will be pissed!

IMO it's embarrassing. Charging full tag price NOT to be drawn and still having to buy the freaking license?

Just find 3 friends to put in with you (don't even have to hunters) and pick a early bull hunt with less than 40 tags. There is NO WAY you will be drawn, and it'll only cost you 5 bucks (plus license) for the app.

Az.G&F will get it right by 2005,but can YOU imagine, when some LATE applying Hunter, just wants to try the "NEW" way to build B.P.and wants to keep His/Her "BUFF" B.P. going for the"House Rock" hunt and is clipped $3,755.00

Thanks for the warnings guys! I can see where i might have put in for the bouns point and taken it up the you know what. I cant really go on these hunts this year and i would have tried to apply for the bonus point only like i did here in california and i would have been in for a big surprise. Anyway, i got my application in, on time, and filled out correctly. thanks for the warnings!

Bighorn, also got the same recommendation from Coues. Keep in touch maybe we will draw the same hunt. You still looking at doing a deer hunt out here also?

6A- I hope !

Found a good spot there last year. Only problem is, I used up all of my bonus points ( except for hunter ed. points ). Maybe my daughter will get drawn for the Jr. hunt again for cow elk ?
