They are everywhere in both of those units. Stay in the lower elevations. Just get up high and sit and glass. They are difficult to spot but if you are patient and stick with glassing you'll find them. They are most abundant in the desert washes around Mt Lemmon, Florence, etc.

I've never hunted that unit but I have taken several javelina in 36B and C. Find fresh sign and then go high and glass. If you find the fresh sign they'll be close, they don't travel far. You'll be more productive glassing rather than hiking.

They like to eat the bulbs on shin daggers, I don't know the real name of this plant but if you walk through them you'll know what they are. The pic below shows the shin daggers around the pig.

thanks guys. ive always hunted units 24a and 27 and have taken 8 pigs in my years in those areas. i decided to try somewhere ive never been before to broaden my areas. ill probably try the mt. lemmon areas and see if i can combo this with the coinciding archery deer hunt. my problem is i have no time to head down and scout being as i am going to be guiding elk hunts in 2B and have to be up here scouting. if anyone has any specific areas as to where any pigs are holding up please help me out here....and if anyone needs any elk info id be happy to help. thanks

VinceMorgan:

I have a 7W archery tag. Please tell me exactly where I can find a monster bull elk. I'm a father of two, and I'm living paycheck to paycheck right now, I can't hire a guide. Please help. Thank you.

i dont hunt that unit ever...but i can find you a bull no problem during the hunt. calling to much is a no no on that hunt so locate bulls by bugling then stalk in with minimal calling.

Thanks for the advice. I've hunted Unit 33 for javelina. I hired Desert Bull Scouting Service. You can google it. The guys name is Jeff. He'll scout and take photos of javelin and give you gps coordinates, camping spots, etc. But, you have to swear to secrecy. Can't tell anyone about the spots he provides. They put me right on the javies, and coues deer. We probably saw 100 coues deer a day. It was a blast. They are cheap, priced for the student, and you can split the cost with your huntin buddy.

If you have hunted pigs in 24a and 27 you should have no problems. Unit 33 has plenty of pigs to hunt in the same kind of terrain. I've hunted pigs in that unit a couple of times and had no problems.

Either you are a midget or that pig is 5'8" long.
Why do you wait till dark to shoot'em?

the pig hunt went well, i killed my pig on the second day.... i arrowed a nice 3x3 coues buck and while searching for him in a canyon i busted some pigs, after some woofing i was able to put an arrow right behind a decent sized sows' shoulder. she went twenty yards and thats where it ended. The weather was pretty bad up there it rained most of the second day washing all blood and tracks away from my coues....after a days worth of searching the canyon bottoms i gave up the search. nothing ruins a hunt like losing an animal! out of the seventeen big game animals ive shot with a bow, this is the first animal i have ever lost. pretty disappointing.
