Back from 1st Rifle season CO

first morning had shot on cow at 60 yards but running through trees so decided to pass. didn't see another elk until last night. i had a cow tag and found a bull. decent but not a trophy so decided to see if he had any cows. then saw small herd with trophy bull and number of cows. trigger froze on three attempted shots. had to dissasemble gun and finally was able to send one. got a huge cow. was 30 yards from the trophy huge bull for as long as i wanted but only had cow tag. oh well, meat for awhile.

Congrats on your cow. :smiley_yahoo: Never seems to work out like it should. A few years back my hunting partner had a cow tag and he had a huge 6x6 walk right in front of him at 15 yards on opening morning. He also saw two legal bulls during that same hunt that were within shooting range. oops: As for me, I had a bull tag and never had a shot at a legal bull, but saw cow elk every day that were close enough I could of killed with a sling shot. My buddy finally killed his cow the last day of the hunt. I got skunked. That's hunting. I'll be there third season deer and elk in a couple weeks. Congrats again on your cow :smiley-mouse:
