Me and the wife are back from our Africa hunt. I took a 30-06 shooting 165 gr fed fusion and the wife took a 7mm08 shooting 140 gr TSX. 23 animals were taken, 11 by my wife and 12 by me. Both bullets worked flawlessly with the TSX being the better penatrator. 10 ot of 11 animals my wife shot fell in its tracks. The only animal that didnt was the blue wildebeest, it ran 100 yards. 9 out of 12 of the animals I shot fell in their tracks, the 3 that didnt was a blue wildebeest, a black wildebeest and a impala shot high shoulder. My longest shot was a red hartebeest at 288 yards and the shortest was a impala at 39 yards. MY wifes longest shot was a springbuck shot at 249 yards in very high winds. Her shortest shot was a jackel at 34 yards. The ranch we hunted was 26 square miles and had deep vallies and flat plains.
Sorry i cant post pics yet but I wil get them up ASAP.

Right on! Good for you guys. I'm looking into doing a trip with the wife for my 50th birthday, but with archery. I've been checking some places on the net and found some that sound pretty nice. If you don't mind me asking, I know the rates for the hunts and the airfare, but what's the cost for Dipping, Packing and Shipping of Trophies back to the US. Or is there a difference to have them mounted there?

Thanks and congrats!!

no not each. for the hole crate of three shoulder mounts shipped to the US, dip and crate. the mounts was $600 for a kudu, $550 for a blue wildebeest and $300 for a blesbuck. total of $2650 for the mounting, crate, dip and shipping to the US. its not so bad when a kudu done here is $900 - $1400 the same for a wildebeest and a blesbuck is about $400- $500 here.
I hunted with Kubusi last year and i rate them 8-9.
This year we hunted on woodlands game farm and I rate them a 10.

Did you get to see examples of the taxidermists' work over there. I've seen some okay work from there, but a lot more was no where in the class of work that taxidermists here can do.

Glad to hear it. If you got something really big, like an elephant, the shipping would be super high, even if it had detachable parts like this critter. I did some repair work on him and some others that were damaged while shipping. elephant.jpg
