Hey everyone,
Short version :I went to camp 5 outfitters with my dad and we both got pigs, it was a great trip and great guide.
And for those of you who like a story:
I just got back on thurs from huntin at camp 5 with Doug Roth. My dad got me a guided pig hunt for my 20th birthday present. On Tues at noon my dad and I left for camp 5, we got there at 4 and met up with Doug. Then we went to his hunting lodge and unpacked our gear, if you ever go to camp 5 you need to stay at the hunting lodge, it was so cool it was a house overlooking a beatiful valley and the house was filled with tons of game mounts from America to Africa. After unpacking Doug took us out to one of his properties. We were sittin on a bluff the overlooked a valley that had the san antino river running through it. We had all been glassing for about 90 mins when i decieded to take a look around with my naked eye. About 10 mins after lookin i see a single black pig about 800 yards out. I got excited pick up my bionos to make sure i wasnt seeing things, it truly was a pig, i looked over to tell doug and when i looked back the pig was gone. The pig had been walking up the river parrell to us so we all were glassing that area hard. After a couple mins I saw the hog again. I told doug immidatly that I saw a pig that way I wouldnt lose it again. I started to set up for the shot quicky when doug gave me his bipod to rest my gun on and my dad told me the pig was 260 yards away. Doug said get your crosshairs on him. I get on the pig and doug says its a nice boar he can see tusks. I find the boar in my crosshairs and my dad says 242 yards, then doug said im goin to get the boar to stop, shoot 2 inches lower than you want to since we are so high up on the bluff. Doug says "hey pig" and the pig freezes and I fire mine win. .270 150 grain vital shock and "wack" i hit the boar perfect shoot not hitting any bones hitting the bottom of the heart and the bottom on the back left lung. He ran 50 yards fell into a bush and died. Never got a live weight but doug said he thought it was probly 240 lbs+. My dad got his pig the next day at dawn, we caught his pig in a grain feild at first light. Overall it was a great trip I saw 30+ pigs 20 of which I was in shooting range with, a ton of deer, yotes, bobcats, turkeys, and several nice bull elk. If anyone is looking for a good quality guided hunt I would really recommend Camp 5 outfitters, they were a great outfit with access to great land loaded with game. It was a great hunt and it was great to spend some time with my dad.
