Just got back from CR and it got nasty up there today with the rain and wind blowing hard we hunted till we got wet with our goretex cloth on. yesterday was nice early yesterday morning i got off of the truck and was waching the pretty view and i started up the hill i walked about a mile and i could see lots of diffrent groups of cows and then i spot another group that looked a little diffrent so i put the binoculers on them and its a group of hogs about 20 of them out in the open working there way up the hill. so i put a stalk on them and get within 200 yards and then the group scatters they run down the mountain except for one that is looking around and i get him in my scope and Boom i shoot. i felt that it was a bad shot. No blood no pictures to show for I Missed.

Sticking it out through this weather, and then getting a shot on public land sounds like a great hunt to me.

Hunting is just school outside in our favorite subject. We learn something everytime we go out. I echo the sentiments of the previous post. My hats off to you for sticking it out in bad weather, finding your target, putting the stalk on on public land. Above all being perceptive and watching the animal as it rooted. I'll have to keep that in mind on my next pig hunt. Way to go. That is what hunting is all about.

Nice hunthard! I wanted to get out to CR this past week but never made it. I haven't seen the area on CR that has cows (just adjacent private land) but I will definately look next time. Did they happen to have a 2006 calendar?

It could've been a lot worse; you could have wounded it.

Finding a group of hogs on public land should give you something to plan for your next trip. I'd advise returning to that spot as soon as you can; they are likely to be frequenting the same spot.

No wonder, I have never been to that area. I've talked to the people at the window several times about that area and they say nobody really hunts there. They said it's rugged and not too many people have been successful in the last couple of years. I wanted to check it out last time I was there but couldn't talk my buddy in to going over there. Too bad they're closed until April, hopefully I can get back out there then. Looks like I will be out at FHL this weekend.

My house in Hawaii is bordered by a 20acre horse pasture which is bordered by the public hunting unit C. I used to walk through the pasture to get to the hunting area and all the horse manure would always be knocked to the side to expose the dead grass and bugs underneath.
