I will write a little more detail later but we went to Colorado with 2 Deer Tags, 4 Bull Tags and a Cow tag. We left 1 Bull tag unfilled due to lots of missing by others. Below are the pictures to start. All the Elk were killed on Public Land but the two deer were killed on Private Land with Private Land tags. I only have a few pictures that I took. I was en-charge of getting all the animals carried out and gutted for the trip since I was done early the first morning. My elk took me seven hours to get out by myself and was able to due it in three trips leaving only the ribcage and hide in the field. I had to cross the river going and coming for each trip. Glad I remembered to take the waders.

Unit 11 & 22

jerry,
You've been hunting 22 for a while right? Have you noticed the deer numbers increasing? Feel free to PM if you don't want to broadcast or not answer at all.

Nice trip Jerry. Beautiful bulls and bucks. Last time I went to Colorado I tagged out first too. I didn't mind being the meat packer one bit. I'm sure you felt the same way. Congrats.

Actually even if I was last I would still be doing the work. I'm 33 and the rest of the group is 63 to 72. I wouldn't give it up for the world though.

Numbers are still going down. We used to see hundreds of bucks a trip and now we are down to a handful. We did see a pretty good population of does and yearlings this year however. Tag numbers are way down but we saw numerous 180 class bucks that were brought into the butcher shop from the surrounding areas. Unit 22 is better with weather. The quality of bucks do seem better.

I know that from talking to friends and reading, it seems like 21 is in the same boat. Weather being a big factor on the quantity/quality of deer. DOW has been lowering tags every year seems like. Don't know if I'd go back to 21 or not. Maybe with 2 points but not more.
Was that Laura's that you saw the bucks?

Unit 21 is still awesome. Weather or no weather. Killing a 160-180 class buck is not much of a problem. My dad will have a unit 21 tag next year as he has about 13 preference points. Last year we had two unit 21 tags and took a 33" 3x3 and 28" 4x4 and we saw bigger. The butcher shop that we see the bucks at is the Stage Stop in Meeker. Best butcher shop in the world as far as I am concerned.
