Got back from Santa Cruz Isaland yesterday and had a great time. My partner and I got 6 hogs (5 boars and a sow) and the group got 26 altogehter. I guess my worries about there being some hogs left for us to hunt were unfounded. Everyting went perfectly. We missed the rain Monday and the winds died down by Tuesday for a great day. I'll try to post some pictures when I get them back.
Met Hoghunter there and swapped stories. Everybody got at least 1 hog. The hogs were pressured a little so you had to get them to come out from the scrub bushes and try and get them when they slowed down. We found they would only run about 50 yds before slowing down.
I want to thank JHP for posting info on the hunt. I was checking out this forum for info on Javelina, and came across the S. C. Island hunt. I also want to thank SDHUNTER and COUGAR for the info on the hunt; it was invaluable in helping us prepare.
Now I have to go to the butcher and get some sauage made (saved most for cooking).
