Well fellas all the help i got from here helped me get into elk but no shots at a bull shot at a cow but missed bad release and the arrow went crazy. Called in a 5x5 real tall and fat but he went behind a tree at 15 yards from my dad and going behind him he barely scraped his arrow on a limb and poof he ran i cow called and he stopped at 20 yrds but no shot then hung up at 40 to 50 yrds for 2 hours got dark so we left real quik got down the gully as fast as we could bugled and he answered so we went in after him the next morning he was there and tore up like 6 trees wind changed on us so we went to go up on him from the other side so the wind was in our favor and we ran into some guy that spooked him that was the end of that elk called in 2 more bulls but they hung up and the wind swirled on us my pops got a 3x3 and a couple grouse i got some grouse too but no big game shot at a cinniman color phase bear at 36yrds came up short and caught his paw barely so i drew blood that cow and a little forky but didnt connect

I forgot some other stuff that happened too well on one of our many ventures into the deep we got into an area that looked used real well of course when the blue berries where in and they where all gone before we found this spot we found some real fresh bear poo but no elk sign then we find a knoll and work up it wind in our face and get to the top find beds all over and a few rubs but no fresh doodoo it was getting pretty late sun was sinking behind the trees and i decide to sit down on a fallen tree and wait my dad sits next to me and he says this aint to good of a spot we are in the open i said well i think all them boogers are gone but lets move so we got up and moved a little bit up the knoll to the top and into some small pine trees with our faces in the wind we sit i decide to cow call and nothing i let out a bugle nothing cow call some more for about 10 minutes or so every so often calling then its gettin dark and the bear doo is on my mind so i let out a bunch of cow calls my dad says aint that a bit over board i chuckle under my breathe and say um no still chuckling i hear something running at us thinking its the squirells i dont get ready then the running gets louder and would you believe it a spike elk that looks like a girraffe pops his head up about 5 yards from us all you can see is his head looking over the trees right at us oh man what a goofy looking elk he sat there for like 2 minutes we couldnt move because he was right on top of us then we got busted and he split after that when ever i sat down arrow was knocked and i was ready i thought that one was funny cant believe i forgot about it

Congrats to your dad on harvesting a buck. Sounds like you got into some action~! Maybe you'll bag on in the late season or next year...you're in the elk so it's just a matter of time.
