Well I have not posted too much here but since I got out of the USMC I obtained my nuisance trapping liscense here in Florida. I did not get any calls for about 8 months until last week . I recieved a call from a state biologist asking if i had ever trapped or eradicated on state lands. I told him no but I would love the oppurtunity and hes said great meet me sat morning to do a survey of the property. I went and saw 36 pigs the first day out.

I started hunting last night and saw 14 hogs and killed 1 nice silver boar . He was about 115 lbs and extremely healthy.I would like to share the hunt now.

at 1830 we arrived at the island and I offloaded the 4whlr and drove down the first trail about 500 ft and there was an explosion of young pigs to my left . There were a good bit of color in that group but they were smallish and it was early so we pressed on. As I rounded the bend at the southern tip I noticed a very well used trail and as I looked up there was a 200lbs est. boar with visible teeth just staring at us so I threw up the marlin 44 just to see his butt leaving at a high rate of speed. Oh well I just sweetened up the trail area w/ about 20lbs of corn and kept riding we pulled up to another travel route about 500 yds away and turned off the Quad. We had been sitting for about 45 min and out walks a group of 4 hogs so I picked out the best shot and nailed him with the marlin. He ran into some head high palmettos and started kicking . I let him lay for about 45 mins then walked up to his BT and followed it to the palmettos and he was waiting for me. When I moved the first palmetto he charged from about 15 ft and I shot 5 times w/ my glock 40 dropping him at my feet . I hit him 3 of 5 shots with the pistol in the head and neck region.

After that I got a good pinch of Cope snuff and tried to get over the pucker factor .
I had a great time and will hopefully have the contract as long as they see pig tracks .
glad I could share w/ you guys . Can somebody help me w/ uploading pics?

In the bottom corner of the "post" area , click browse to get the pics from your computer. Then upload. I put the pics on my desktop to make it easy to find them. Almost all of my pictures are more than 300k. Could that be your issue?

I have been out twice in search of boar.....no luck. If I buy I new rifle they will appear right? That is my logic and excuse to get a new gun.

I think I got it this is from my first trail camera placement.Check out the bulging spots on the boars snout . his cutters are about 2 inches but very thick and they look sharp as a razor.

Looks good to me. How was the butchering? I have read a few books on preping the meat, but not sure what it will be like when It happens in real life

SOunds like you're in 'em thick. They want eradication... are you doing some trapping as well as the one-by-one shooting?

Yes we have just built a couple of corral traps that are being baited but not set just yet. Next week I will start setting those traps. I suspect to catch alot of the sows and piglets in the Traps and the Boars will be a lil more tricky. That is how it usually works out .also got this double the other afternoon and they went straight to the smoker over the weekend .
