Berliner bitten by break-in boar
A German man ended up in hospital after being attacked by a wild boar which broke into his Berlin apartment.
The animal, searching for food, bit the man's leg before escaping back to the woods, police told Reuters news agency.
"The wild boar broke into the living room through a terrace door and hid under a table," said a police spokesman.
He said that when the man tried to shoo the boar back out the door "it went wild".
The injured man, 54, was treated in hospital for his leg wound and released on the same day.
Police said the animal had not been captured.
Environmentalists say several thousand wild boars, which can reach sizes of 150 kg (330 lbs), live around Berlin and push further into the city when their food supplies are low.
In England, a wild boar was spotted trotting into a supermarket in Gloucestershire before fleeing when confronted by shop staff on Wednesday.
A number of boars are believed to live wild in the nearby Forest of Dean and there are reports of about 1,000 on the other side of the country in Kent and East Sussex.
