Funny you should mention this subject. I just got of the phone with Marty Rovenstine who has been guiding pig hunters on his ranch near Paso Robles for 22 years. Marty likes March and April the best because after the spring rains there is more green grass and bulbs for the pigs to eat. Cold weather means the pigs need to burn more calories so they should be more active. On the other hand say your archery deer hunting in the A-zone and its a dry year and hot what ever water source you find might be a hot spot. Of course the downside of a lot of rain is that unpaved roads may become too dangerous to drive on and you can only cover so much ground on foot. If your hunting in the spring the grass is softer so you may not make so much noise when you are stalking. If you live in LA the best time to hunt is when you can!
I think the area current weather play a significant role in this answer. However I've hunted hogs there several times now and without fail each time I pose this question I'm givin about the same relpy. March through April are the easiest times to find hogs in the open during day light.
I've never hunted them that time of year. I only have late fall early winter available with my African Safari company taking up much of my late spring and early summer in the USA. I've killed pigs, but it's not been exceptional hunting conditions. Everytime I'm there the ranch owner/guide/ helper always make the same comments. If you could only come in spring it would be so much better hunting.
Maybe that's not a "fact" but it's all I have to go on with the guys doing this all year round.
