Before I read the replies I was thinking to myself...that looks like a bear. Should I say something and embarrass myself, or keep my mouth (keyboard) shut. I am no expert tracker, but the long tracks that are pointed inward looked like a bruin.

Glad to see the experts agree.

Tag that bear this winter!

Thanks for the replies. I thought they looked big for a cat , glad to know it was a bear, gotta get a tag now. They looked pretty fresh as they were over some tire tracks from the previos morning. The tracks were leavin the area i was entering and goin straight to the campsite. If he's there this winter I'll be ready!

Welcome to JHO Dogmeat. I was in the area of pozo. Last year saw so much pig sign and this year nothin. I did see alot of deer and some really cool vultures. There was like 10 on this big ol dead tree and they were lookin at us. Now i think about it kinda makes me nervous now knowin there was a bear nearby!!

Reddog, There is also a fairly decent condor population in the vicinity you are describing. Most of them are tagged and numbered and are pretty amazing birds...huge! Next time your out there keep you eye out for one.

Tx Bob,

That is a nice picture. A perfectly defined track.
