After the big flood in MO in '93 many of the trees died in the conservation areas where I hunted in NE MO. After a couple years they all came crashing down. I quit hunting one area for awhile after a narrow miss. Nothing will unhinge you more than standing in the dark and a 90 foot oak tree lands next to you with a giant thud..
Three fellow JHOr's and myself were hunting a month or so ago, driving on a dirt road through a private ranch and decided to pull off the road to let nature call. Orso who was driving, was going to park it right down the middle of the dirt road but Arrowslinger told him to move his wife's suv to the right side of the road into the shade so we wouldn't get hot while Orso found the perfect tree. I bombed out the back seat of the driver's side and started to shoot my 17hmr at some ground squirrels. AS and Pigig were glassing up the squirrels when we all heard a weird sound after my 1st shot. A huge pine came crashing down and the three of us ran for our lives. I thought Orso was dead for sure but luckily he wasn't under the tree that fell. It was crazy. The left side of his car was covered by limbs as they slammed the doors shut. If he hadn't pulled it out of the middle of the road it would of been alot worse. Never saw nothing like it.
That's crazy (both pics) . Real bummer for a nice one to get taken out that way. Glad you fellas weren't hurt. Definitely makes ya think twice about where you set up camp or park your ride
