My personal opinion is I do not really like the one and done idea. It really is not going to change your odds that much. Usually this is brought up to make things "fair" or even the odds, but that is exactly what the point system was implemented to do. I think the point system could use some work for things like elk and antelope. I like some of the sytems which square or cube points at some point. In one of my earlier points if it was implemented max point holders odds would not change much and would allow those with max points to have a better chance. At the same time it penalizes heavily those with just a couple points (but in time their odds will get better). There really is no single view of how it should be done. Even within this small discussion their are differing opinions but like most things everyone thinks their opinion is right (I am guilty of that). If I got to implement everything how I wanted without consideration of others life would be easy, it would be my way or get out. But I can not run a program like that and I listen to differing opinions, many of them are very valid with good points. Just be aware that the hunting community rarely sees things the same way and any type of change is going to piss some people off while making others happy. I am not in favor of changing a system to anger the people who are happy now only to make those who are mad now happy. But again, there are some very valid points and with any situation I encourage those who feel strongly about it to contact the Commission with their concerns. The more input everyone receives the better, without some type of input change will never happen and if it looks like there is a real need for change then something may be done.
