Got out today with a couple friends. Nothing was moving until around 10:30 when my friends spotted a group of sows and piglets walking down a road. One got off a shot but either missed or just nicked it as they all took off and she ran into dense brush. They looked for an hour but no sign of her at all. Wonder if it was the same group of pigs from this video that I pulled from a game cam - no wonder the place is so torn up! That's a LOT of pigs!

We split up again in the afternoon, with them walking around and me on top of a rise overlooking a valley. At around 4:30 I saw them walking back toward the cars and started to head down to the valley floor to join them. Just then a huge black boar came wandering down the middle of the valley near a stock pond. I got set up as he came out of the brush around the pond and dropped him as he was about to take a drink. About a 150 yard shot with my -06, bullet went thru his spine and left lung then stopped in the far shield. 230 lbs with 3" cutters that were very sharp and a shield that was over an inch thick. I was pleasantly surprised that he didn't smell given his size, should make good sausage. I've been hoping to get a good boar like this one and am going to make a euro mount, should look great.

super nice score on a boar with very nice cutters! congrats and thanks for sharing!
cali-c, pigs are considerd an envasive species here in ca. so no size or gender restrictions on the poor little piggies, just the method of take. i guess it all comes down to each hunters personal views, morrals, feelings, religon or the way they were raised when it comes to choosing the way they want to hunt and their the method of take of pigs in this state, and thier is nothing wrong with that as long as its legal....tra

I understand that it is technically legal. They are an invasive species that is regulated as a game animal. It is also legal to skyscrape waterfowl, ground blast game birds, kill a 60 pound bear and kill a doe with spotted fawns (with an anterless tag). Purposefully killing a wet sow with piglets should fall under wanton waste! It sounds as though he hunts a property with a substantial population. There is no need to kill anything that moves.

Nice hog and looks like your place will have a healthy number of pigs for some time to come. You are blessed.

congrats.....
he's gonna make a great euro mount
those big boars need to be removed occasionally to make room for the upcoming litters
if you have an opportunity to choose, pic a sow without piglets or a young boar....
ive been watching a sow with babies in a nest for 3 weeks now....same spot..
she seems very vulnerable like a spawning bass
I love to watch her interact with the cows...the 8 piglets will be next years crop..
anyways congrats and keep hunting, your on them now...
and post pics of euro
