Old Tree - Let me open by truly saying congratulations and as I stated before, "If I am incorrect, I apologize" for the inference that you may have done what I personally observed.
I thought Bowhunter and I had already put his and my comments to rest. So you can see I was not trying to be malicious in my comments (incorrectly referring to you). As a result and you are aware... It wasn't about you and your friends. And as the forum clarifies, It was about some other hunter at the same hunt.
As I stated, and Bowhunter confirmed, based on the DFG information I received from the Warden and the Biologist, they were only reporting one kill at the time I observed the Hide and offending Elk parts.
You have quite a following...... But one thing!...
I am not sure why no one has commented on the actions of the other hunter who took the Elk on Steward. Is this a common practice of Elk Hunters out there? I hope it isn't, I do not know any Elk / Big Game hunters whom have done this.
I didn't start the forum.. But, I was referred to in a negative way and also informed by others of the post As stated, I stayed clear of the area because my multiple scouting trips yielded some awesome bulls in a less hunter impacted area.
I had an awesome time; Yes I did Arrow a Bull. And No! The area I hunted was not Wheel Chair accessible. (ha ha)
Again, sorry for the confusion. The intent.. to point out some issues I felt needed to be known and the forum, as stated, that I also do not usually view or participate in, provided the opportunity.
I think all has been clarified
FYI, I call JHP to have my comments removed the day after the post, because the points, apologies and clarifications had been made between Bowhunter and I. JHP did not recommend the removal.
I guess next time I will keep all to myself and look though the rose colored glasses.

when I drew the lonepine bull tag in 04 I had what you might call a altercation with the law. myself & my hunting buddy made over an hour long stalk on some elk at first light. we got set up for the shot and waited for some cows to clear. this took 10-15 mins. would have been longer, but someone who we did not even know was there fired a hand gun, ( at least that is what it sounded like) at that moment the elk bailed real fast. but I had a good rest and was able to get a good shot when the last cow cleared. high shoulder shot came out the throat. didnt take long for him to expire. at that time the rest of my bubbies called on the cell phone. they arrived an hour later to help. A friend of mine noticed a game warden truck acrossed the hiway. then a truck stopped at the game warden. my buddy who could see them talking through the binos was sure something was up, he lives in the area. he also stated you watch the warden will meet us at the hiway. Well sure enough when we get with in 200 yds. of the hiway heres the warden with 2 sheriffs in tow. he tells us that we horned in on some elses elk. I tell him we started stalking these elk at first light. then he says that this other hunter told him that we were not at the orientation the night before. Well this was sunday the orientation was fri. I could go on about other things that this phantom hunter told him. every thing checked out with my tag so we were on our. my friend that lives in the area has a feeling that antis might be stirring the pot posing as ( other hunters) to goof up hunts. sorry for such a long boring post. I have never posted this experience on the web before. CONGRATS OLDTREE ON YOUR ELK. Brubo

I have a tule elk hunt coming up on the 18th and when I was scouting in july all the townsfolk were very friendly and helpful, but they all warned me of one rich newcomer who bought a large spread and has buffalo on it. He's anti-hunter and prior to and during the hunt he baits his property to try and keep the elk from leaving his land, and when the elk begin to move he has workers blocking them. The Game Warden warned him about this but he claims he's feeding his buffalo, so they can't stop the baiting. Maybe they can bust him on harrassing the elk.
