I had to work so was not there for this hunt. (We just opened a gun counter at the BX) We had been seeing some decent hogs with a sow obviously just about to breed. My hunting partner hiked in to where we'd been seeing them and set up for the evening. There was a sow and a decent boar down below him about 150 yards away and he decided to go ahead and shoot the boar. As he was setting up another hog, much larger, came charging out of the brush and proceeded to beat up on the other boar. Apparently that made for an easy decision, so Steve crosshaired the new hog and plugged him. He took off at a dead run and he fired two more rounds at him, hitting him once, before he finally gave up the ghost. (The first shot was just where it was supposed to be)
The hog gutted out at 202 lbs. with 3" cutters, covered in mud and an interesting tan color. He cleaned up well and now we have enough pork between us to get some sausage started. Good job, dude!
