I find myself closing my left eye when looking through my binos. They are decent quality 10X50. I just can't seem to bring both images together with my eyes. I am right eye dominate but don't know if that makes any difference. I think it is worse after extended periods of viewing. I am waiting for a new pair of 10X42 to see if that helps. I'm begining to think maybe I should have bought a monocular instead. Anyone else have this problem? Any Ideas?

Seriously... have you had your eyes checked lately?

I'm assuming you've adjusted to your vision (one lens has an adjustment), so there's a good chance that the problem isn't the glass but you. Of course, if something has happened to the mirrors in one lens, that could also be the problem... but a fixed power binocular shouldn't do that.

Before you order new glass, I'd go to a shop somewhere and try a few to see if the problem is consistent. If it is, your eye doctor may have the answer you're looking for.

Speckmisser, I'm usally asked if I've had my head checked lately but I can happily say yes this time. I went to the eye doc a few months back. No change in my eyes for 11 years now and only minor correction needed. I didnt discuss the matter at the time since I wasn't using my binos very much. Anyway, I did get some new glass and that has solved my problem. I got a set with larger exit pupil size and longer eye relief. Not sure if that was it or not but something is different because no problem now.

What happened is the Binocs got bumped around/dropped whatever and the mirror(s) came loose. If you look cross-eyed the image will come together. Now with a little luck you can fix it. You will have to take the Binocs apart, usually not too hard. Do what I do and think that some idiot had to put these together so it shouldn't be to hard to get apart.LOL Now this is when it gets tricky. DON'T TOUCH THE MIRRORS You will notice the mirrors are glued on the edges, locate the one (mirror(s)) with the glue broken loose. Be sure to inspect all of them it may have more than one loose, or you will have to take it apart again. When you locate it, gently move the mirror back into position. You should see the proper location by the other glue spots not moved. Now take a Q-tip strip the cotton off one end and use a product called Marine Goop, put some on the Q-tip end and place it on the side of the mirror. DO NOT GET IT ON THE MIRROR Be sure to get it on the mounting plate as well as the mirror edge. Keep the Binocs in a very clean well ventilate area overnight before assembly. Do not cover the Binoc. If you assemble it before it is cured the acetate will etch the mirror. Now remember your original Binocs were sealed in Nitrogen, this prevents fogging. If you can find someone with a Nitrogen tank you can assemble them in a Nitrogen rich container. If you don' have access just put them back together. I have put several together without it and can say I haven't had any complaints. I was always going to hot glue in a small desiccant packet from a pill bottle inside the Binocs and try that. Good Luck

P.S. You can get marine goop from Lowes, Home Depot, Wally World.
