i went bird hunting for the first time last week at waianae kae forest reseve, unit 4 . i didn't have a bird dog and i didn't see one single bird. i hiked for six hours and saw a few pigeons and doves, thats it. should i expect bird hunts to be like this or would i be better off hunting somewhere else. i noticed the streams were completely dried up so maybe the birds weren't anywhere. i should note that i'm a beginner. also, i saw at least 3 different groups of hunters hunting for pigs with dogs, and at least one of them was successful from the squealing in the distance. this was a sunday on bird season.
