Sitting as the #1 alternate for the Bishop ML hunt. Anyone have a clue as to when the alternates might hear something? Money had to be in to DFG on 7/16 for the folks who drew. As far as I can tell nobody here on JHO pulled these two tags. Rifle is ready to go but could always use some range time and scouting.

I would rather not know... CA is the only state that punishes the close but no joy applicants with the alternate knowledge. Other states will contact next in line after the tag is returned...

I was first alternate for bighorn last year. I received a notice in the mail that detailed if a tag holder did not purchase their tag by XX date, I would be in line to purchase and gave me two options on how to pay and or to decline the tag purchase. I filled it out and sent it in. FYI - The bastards all bought their tags... I ALMOST won the lottery.

Just would like to know for sure because if I am not going, my collection of muzzleloaders is going up for sale.

What happens when someone wants that hunt pays for the tag and then finds out they cannot get time to go ?

First off, IT IS JUST WRONG AND UNFAIR FOR A GUY TO DRAW DESERT BIGHORN ONE YEAR AND TULE BULL THE NEXT.... :)

But second thought... Get rid of all your muzzleloader stuff. Now! That action might just bring the luck you need. :)

Subfan,

I was the alternate for Independence 5 General antlerless season for Elk. I was called by DFG last week and stated there was a cancellation. This was a surprise because I had been an alternate one time before. Well, she asked if I was still interested and of course I said I was. I paid for the tag over the phone and already received it. Now, you never know when these other cancellations may occur so who knows, you still may be in the running. There's probably not too many people dropping out for a Bull tag though.
