Just wanted to see how many of us wearing... rather it's a hat or vest while hunting pigs????

Does the law requires? I know wild pigs have very poor eyesights so blazed orange won't stand out too much for them when we far away. I always wear at least an orange baseball cap when I hunt, but I've seen a lot of hunters outthere wear camoflage. I think that's very dangerous.

Your right, it is dangerous. I try to wear it most of the time. If I am hunting a known location with other hunters, I definitely wear it. I specially wear orange blaze for opening day deer season, no matter where I am. When I used to hunt the A zone I ran into two group of hunters on different occasions that were pretty damn drunk. In fact, one of the hunters offered me a corona. I couldn't believe it, he had converted his hunting pack into a cooler, filled it with ice, and had about six pack of coronas with him, ice cold.

Like the saying goes, its better to be safe than sorry (or dead).

I normally don't wear orange while pig hunting, but I'm not on public land either. I have met hunters that shoot at anything that resembles a pig. Had this one knucklehead tell me how funny it was that he was shooting at a pig about 300 yards away and just knew he was hitting it. Turned out it was a bush.

Keep in mind, when your sitting on a hillside wearing black BDU's, you never know what the guy glassing you is seeing. Wearing at least an orange hat is probably a good idea. I think I'll add an orange hat to my pig hunting gear list.

Most definitely!!!! Lots of guys are jittery bugs when it comes to identifying black objects on a hillside. Most will scan it by using their rifle scope and ending up with the GUN BARREL POINTED AT the UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT. Remember, those rifles pointed at you ARE LOADED with HI-POWERED ammo. You probably will not need a hospital in case of an accidental shooting. YOU WILL NEED A CEMETERY!!!! You will end up dead, crippled or a vegetable. Better safe than sorry. For me it is only a hobby. I like to help the other fellow identify me as quickly as possible so he will not be tempted to scan me with his riflescope with that loaded gun barrel pointing at me. 'Nuff said.

Depends on the area I'm hunting. When I'm with dogs and a bunch of friends I'll wear a blaze tshirt. When I'm by myself in the backcountry I'll dress in camo, when I'm close to roads and people I wear my blaze hat. Theres way fewer people to worry about here in Hawaii though so it may not apply so much over there.

California has a Voluntary rule, although highly recommended not mandatory. It should be or at least a blaze hat. Most other states its the law like Montana,Colorado and wyoming just to name a few during the regular gun season.

I wear an orange Beenie during the general season. If it is archery only I wear camo only. Sometimes I will tie up my thin blaze orange vest onto the back of my pack.

State law requires that we use blaze orange when hunting with a firearm. When I first started hunting pigs, I cheated and hunted in camo. I was getting nothing. The first time I changed and went out in blaze orange, I got a nice sow. My wife could not stop laughing at the irony. I have blaze orange T-shirts made with coolmax. They are great! Really comfortable fabric for hot weather hunting. Wicks any moisture away from your skin and keeps you pretty comfortable.

I don't normally wear orange.......if I'm hunting in an area that has alot of hunters I'll wear a cap.......I was hunting area 29 at FHL several years back when I came across a black hog and a white hog rooting around by the lake.......I could've hit them easilly enough from the distance I was from them but knowing hogs well enough and the wind in my favour I decided to put a sneak on them and get a better shot.......I got about 20 yards from where they were rooting and came over the hill expecting to get a clean shot......man was I surprised when I see 2 idiots crawling around in the grass.......one guy was wearing faded blue jeans and a white shirt and the other guy was dressed completely in black.......told them thats a good way to get shot and left........scared the crap out of me......still to this day do not know what they were doing........so yes.....orange is a good idea........unless your a deer....shot a buck hanging with a doe wearing a blaze orange radio collar once (the doe not the buck ) but thats a another story.

Interesting story BirdDawg. Which is why identifying what you're shooting at is so important. Lucky for them. lol.

As for me... I won't wear Orange unless its' required by the rules. I like being able to camo up completely. Just a personal preference.

I've had this happen a few times to me. If I see someone doing this and looking at me I ALWAYS make sure they see my middle finger. I get pissed off just thinking about that happening!

I feel better if I have orange on, not only for the safety aspect, but it might let someone know I'm hunting this area and they should find another place to hunt. It saves problems and time for everybody.
