Hey all. I've never hunted for hogs on BLM land, and have some questions.

1) do you just show up, and hike in?
2) can you camp in the back country?
3) if I actually get something (it'd be beginners luck..or at least that's what I'm hoping for) where do I turn in my tag?

Thanks for the help.

Welcome...

1- hike in
2- depends on specifics for that piece of BLM land. Check with your local BLM office or go online and check to see if overnight camping is allowed on the unit of BLM land you want to hunt. In my opinion, most of all BLM land in CA will allow you to camp overnight
3- get it validated by anyone otherwised to validate tags (FG Regulations), then mail in the portion of the tag to be mailed in.

Good Luck!

Hog tags do not need to be validated. Just fill it out and mail in the report to F&G after the kill.

poor guy has no idea what he has got himself into......less than 400 pigs are taken on public land each year..1/3 of those on the airforce bases...and Live2Hunt typically gets the rest!!!! what is he up to 9 this year???

Ain't it the truth...used to be pigs all over here. I haven't seen one on anything but private for a few years. Except for the FHL zoo...

yup you just gotta keep at it and stay on your game, any bit of sloppy hunting might ruin your chances. if nothing else, it keeps you in shape and clues you into where other game likes to hang out.
