This is exactly what happened to me. Fortunately I was not hunting alone and was able to get the pig back to the truck. Worst part was I had switched hunting packs the night before and had left my first aid kit out and at home. Amazing what you can do with paper towels and rope!

no nerve or tendon damage... i was very lucky. the cut went with the grain of the muscle... so i am hopeing for a speedy recovery...

Both you and that porker had a rough week. The pig had been recently shot with an arrow and you have a rather large self inflicted wound. I hope there's no nerve damage...have you lost any dexterity? I can honestly say I've never been stabbed without knowing it.

no loss of anything yet... cut went 1/8 away from two tendons...very sore.. but have all movement and feeling...

Hope your gun safety is better then your knife safety! Be glad your fingers are still working good. My wife took a bb in the hand as a kid and now two of the fingers can not move independently of eachother.

KUDOS to keeping your cool. i almost passed out, when i cut my thumb with a tablesaw. you are the tougher man for sure..again KUDOS.

no idea how it happened. stabbing knife injuries are rare, compared to the slicing ones.

the pig was look at the hunter and entered in just to the left of its left shoulder. went in about a foot and hit the left side ribs...took out 3... hit no vitals.. all fatty tissue.

Yikes! Nice piggie though.

My Dad found this one inside a 170 lb whitetail a couple of year ago in Vermont. No external marks, all healed over. Only a teeny bit of puss near the shaft, which was a couple inches below the spine. All the meat was fine.

Definately pays to be careful where you cut!!!!

I have had a rusty nail go through my hand when I was a child and it went right through the palm between all the bones and missed anything vital or useful, but something with an edged blade going through is just plain scary.

In a manner, I think by your posting this, it can be a valuble lesson to some of us to take the time to inspect a downed animal before venturing in, and so thanks for letting us know of another possible danger in this outdoor passion. I'm just sorry you had to get hurt before doing so.

I can imagine sometimes an animal can heal up and still be carrying something like that internally, but that has got to be very rare.

I guess it might be awhile before you will be able to do any shadow puppets; BTW, I can do a really good Richard Nixon shadow, but my Mae West still needs a little work.
