Hi guys and gals,

Some of you may have seen this boar a couple years ago when I shot it. We estimated he weighed 250+ lbs. My fiance' had the great idea of paying for my boar to get mounted as my wedding gift!! These ideas of hers are why I'm marrying her. ;-) Any how, I'm very excited to have my first mount and wanted to share.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Each day I sit at my computer working away and love looking to my left as I have him staring right at me.

Very nice tusks. Are those not the real tusks in the mount tho? I have big problems with taxidermists who use fake tusks in a mount. Nothing like the origionals but at least you have the skull, which by the way, looks terrific too. Congratulations on on heck of a trophy boar!

Thanks again guys. I too love that he is jet black. Thats how I've imagined a big boar looking my whole life.

Nic Barca: When I took my mount to the taxidermist, there was never even a mention of having the original tusks put back in the mount. I'm pretty glad they're not in there though. The tusk becomes holo after the point it enters the jaw and knowing me, when moving that thing around I would probably break them off. Also, unfortuntely Herman, my taxidermist, couldn't find teeth any larger than the ones in the mount. But like you said, at least I have the skull! And that my friends, sits right next to my desk so I don't even have to turn my head to look at it!

Oh, and by the way, your cow/pig hunting story was awesome! So are you telling me that there are wild cows on the islands and you can track em down and killem? If so, awesome.

One Track: I really think mine's snacking on my mid-night munchies cause I too believe he grows larger and larger each day.

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Were his uppers broke off or did he just not have any?
I've seen alot of Tejon boar pictures with uppers missing on one side or the other, and the lower usually grows long and hooks back.
Are they throwing alot of rocks around down there or what?

Nature, when taxi's use the real teeth they fill them to prevent cracking, or at least lessen the chance so they wouldn't be hollow in your mount. Real teeth are notorious for cracking and that's why many taxi's don't want to use them. It is also more work for them(read less profit) to use original teeth since they must be removed and filled/sealed then placed into the jawset.
